The Rockfish Valley Foundation (RVF) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization serving Nelson County, VA and beyond since 2005. We are the only public park in Nelson County. We aim to inspire a healthy lifestyle by offering hiking trails, programs, & events. Our land serves as an outdoor laboratory for students, the community & visitors alike.
Vital RVF Staff:
Katrina Broughman – Program Director
- Six years of teaching experience
- Two in Peace Corps Moldova as an English Education Volunteer
- Two as an outdoor educator at Boxerwood Nature Center (Lexington)
- Two as an English Language Arts Teacher with Staunton City Schools
- Passionate about getting students outside
- Main focus on interdisciplinary & project/problem/place-based learning
- M.A. in Sociology, Morehead State University, KY 2019 – present
- M.Ed. in Environment-Based Learning, Mary Baldwin University (MBU), Staunton, VA 2018 – present
- B.A. in Sociology and English, Mary Baldwin College (MBU) 2009-2013
- Environmental Studies, Peacemaking & Conflict Resolution, & Education
- Capstone Festival nominee
- Distinction in Major for Sociology Thesis: “Naturally Religious.”
